Enclosed farther down in this letter is a copy of the activity calendar for 2012. This calendar has been taken directly from the club website and reflects what is currently on that site. However throughout the year, a change or two may be made to the activities. If so, it will be reflect immediately on the website. So as we have always warned in the past, if you see a discrepancy between an event date here in the newsletter versus the date on our website calendar, the website calendar is always to be considered the correct information.

In April we will begin our range clean up days on the third Saturday of the month. These clean up days will begin at 9:00 a.m. and adjourn by noon.

The tentative date chosen for the next Ladies Firearms Class is Saturday, June 16, 2012. I am sure that this date will be confirmed at the March membership meeting. Contact Shirley if you have persons interested in attending. Shirley will be doing no advertising or public announcements. This will all be word of mouth through our club. Consider this your first alert. Finally a reminder, same rules as last year. To enroll in the class, a student must send a check for $25.00. Attend the class and that check will be returned. Fail to show for the class, and that money now belongs to the gun club.

It is time to remind all of our members that the annual club membership renewals are due every April 15. That date is just over a month away, so we need to be budgeting for our membership dues. Those renewal dues are $50.00. The mailing address for the club dues is SVGC, P.O. Box 1514, Bloomington, IN 47402. The foundation dues are to be paid by October 15th. Basic annual foundation membership renewals are $200.00. Sponsoring annual foundation membership renewals are $500.00.

This year‚s Friends of the NRA banquet was held at Primo‚s on Saturday, February 25th. This was the first banquet held in two years because of some issues with the state over gaming licenses. Our club was well represented and even walked away with a couple of the the drawing prizes. Those who have not attended in the past may want to make a note to try to be there for the 2013 dinner. We see a lot of old friends, meet some new ones, and raise money to support the future of the shooting sports.

The Owen County 4-H Rifle Club will again use our range facilities for training and qualification. The dates that I have been given are Apr 15, May 6 & 20, June 10 & 24, and July 8. These are all Sunday dates; the time of use for each date is 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Club members are not precluded from using the range at these times, but they must coordinate their firing activities to those of the 4-H Club for obvious safety reasons.

We have another organization that will be using our range for training purposes in April. On Friday, April 13, 2012 (although this could get moved to the 20th) the I.U. Air Force ROTC will hold a firearms class at our range. Details are yet to be determined.

Another upcoming event that will take place on the range grounds is an Appleseed Shoot. This is scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2012. Further details will be forthcoming in the April and May newsletters.
